This is a VERY NICE Fox Model II professional bassoon. Fox is the best American maker of bassoons and oboes, and this is an excellent example of an early model II. Fox's manufacturing is excellent. Intonation is very good, action is terrific, and these bassoons sound good enough to play in any professional setting. This particular one is in very good condition. There are no cracks, repaired or otherwise, though there is a little varnish wear (see photos). There is some wear on the keys, but the instrument looks fantastic. This bassoon has just had a complete overhual in our shop and plays great! These very early Foxes are highly regarded - a client of mine purchased one on the spot after playing it and put his Wolf in the closet! Pictures tell the rest of the story!
