Here is an AMAZING Gautrot-Marquet BBb bass sarrusophone. WOW! There are not that many of these around, and they are a unique horn for your arsenal. With a tone that sounds like a bassoon crossed with a saxophone, and a much smaller bore than the BBb bass saxophone, these instruments provide a great way for a woodwind specialist to play long melodic passages in the bass register while still retaining the rapid facility from a keyed instrument. Fingering is nearly identical to the saxophone-the only substantial difference is that it has three manual octave keys instead of an automatic octave key. Condition-wise, this instrument is excellent. It has just had a complete repad by on of our woodwind specialists and plays GREAT! Original raw brass finish has developed a nice patina and it looks as good as it plays. A contrabassoon reed works well with this one, or a single reed mouthpiece can be adapted. This came to us without a case so we adapted a gun case and it works great (see pics). Pics tell the rest of the story! Please feel free to email with additional questions.
