<p>The story of the Conn 6D begins in the early 1920s with the introduction of the original “6-D” model. Equipped with a piston change valve in the “Schmidt” style, this 6-D was Conn’s first double horn. The 6D was revised in 1935 with a rotary change valve to much acclaim, quickly becoming “…the favorite of big symphony players.” The 6D is a double French horn, and though less appreciated than its cousin the 8D, it is still a very fine double horn. The 6D represents a fine choice for an advancing student. The serial number on this particular instrument places the year of manufacture circa XXXX, during the so-called 'Elkhart' period when Conn was making their best instruments. </p>
<p>This horn shows some cosmetic blemishes but has just been serviced in our shop, and it plays great. Will be perfect for an advancing student on a budget. Includes case, but no mouthpiece with this one.</p>
